Discover more from LIFE with ROCKY
(Sighs ๐ฎโ๐จ) Well, it's been a YEAR ๐๐ฌ since Purposely You had some life to it. The good news is that it wasn't in vain. I learned a lot while I was away from writing, although I missed it greatly. You'll be surprised how fast time flies and how fast your life can change. So, within the year, I got engaged, got married, moved, accomplished being at a job for more than a year (I'll explain in a future post), filmed a short film in Miami, booked a Guest Star role on a network show, and relaunched Purposely You (for the one-hundredth time). And, I still feel like I'm missing something. To sum it all up, It's been an eventful year, to say the least.
Being a creative person, I've always found a new way to "re-invent" something, especially when it came to purposely you. It has changed so much since I created it back in 2016. Whether it was through redesigning the site, changing the logo, or adding new topics to discuss, there was a change each year. Making all these changes and as often as I was to a company/brand, I was building made it feel unstable. It wasn't until I unintentionally took a year break that I realized the multitude of changes were because I was changing throughout my life. As I was evolving, I wanted Purposely You to reflect that in every way. If I changed my look, I would change the site. If I became passionate about specific topics, I would create a new 'tab.' And, If I felt like I needed to redefine myself, I would change the meaning behind Purposely You. This external piece of me felt unstable only because I was getting to know myself and couldn't Identify the connection. Atlas, now I know that Purposely You is a journey with self. Not only to get to know yourself but to allow yourself to be. Such as failing, learning, evolving (changing), exploring, and to simply live. See, I told you the break wasn't in vain.
Desiring the product of our ideas to be perfect is unrealistic. That kind of pressure will have us placing parameters on ourselves and the development of "said idea." The purpose of anything in life is to learn and grow. To help us develop into who we are meant to be. Our best bet is to release the expectations so we can enjoy the journey and live life. On that note, this is why Purposely You is back for real this time. I had enough of trying to "perfect" Purposely You, and now I'm ready to experience the journey of where it will go.
