Life can sometimes pick us up and throw us around like a rag doll. Our mind and body fill up with anxiety while our soul searches for alignment. This leaves us running around with no sense of direction, making it challenging to stabilize our emotions, trying this and trying that all in hopes of anchoring ourselves in something. However, we lose all hope when nothing seems to work, coming to a complete stop, breaking down, and crying. Emotional rollercoasters are real; if we aren't mindful, we'll find ourselves back on the whirlwind of a ride.
My emotional rollercoasters always showed up during the times when I would question myself or my process in life. I've had my fair share of emotional rollercoasters throughout my life, and it took me some time to finally get off the ride. I couldn't grasp or understand why I wasn't where I wanted to be in life by that time. Of course, by society's standards, I should've hit certain milestones by certain ages, but I didn't, and unfortunately, I was living by society's standards. Later, I realized that living by those standards only slowed me down even more. It made me go against the grain of my way of being and pulled out of alignment.
After recognizing the pattern and wave of the emotional rollercoaster, I realized that the process could be compared to waiting in line for a popular ride at an amusement park. Lol 😂, I don't know why, but that's what came to me. So, here's the breakdown:
Waiting in line — This is the part of life where we gain clarity. We gain clarity mainly because we have time, which brings about a calm and peaceful state, allowing everything to flow to us. Just like standing in a line, we take one step at a time when it's time to move up. Keeping our thoughts clear and the mind, body, and soul moving as one.
The line is getting shorter, and you're getting closer — This is when you can physically see how much distance is between where you are currently and Where you want to be. In life, this can be represented by many different things like hitting milestones by a certain age, deadlines, timelines, people's opinions of what you should do, and feeling that you're at the very end, which makes you believe you're running out of time.
Now, you are anxious — This is when stress sets in, and there's a disconnect between your mind, body, and soul. You become anxious because you feel that you have to make a decision at that very moment. Yet, you don't know what to do because every piece of clarity you have disappears. We end up rushing, skipping steps, trying to figure out how to reach the destination as fast as possible.
You jump in to take your seat — This is the part where your decision is made, but it was made out of fear. Rushing your process in life will jumble up your awareness, leading to a decision that doesn't align with your purpose.
Enjoy the ride — This is when you realize that your decision wasn't the right one and that it has to run its course. Every decision we make has a set of outcomes. Whatever the outcome, we always have room to get ourselves back on track.
The ride is over — This is the part where you recover and see a silver lining. Now you are fully aware and equipped to handle whatever life throws your way without getting on the emotional rollercoaster.
I learned from my emotional rollercoasters that I needed to slow down and take my time to digest every moment of my journey. On top of that, I needed to embrace who I was and learn to understand that everything I needed to know was and is within me. Some situations connected to my life have helped me become who I am today. Without some of those situations, I may not have discovered my potential. But, I had to readjust my perspective.
Rushing through your process will send you on an emotional rollercoaster, which will derail you off your course. Slowing down and embracing who you are brings clarity to your life. You'll begin to see the steps you must take while discovering your peace and happiness. All that positivity will find its way back to you along your journey. So, slow down, flow with your purpose, be one with who you are, and remember to be purposely you!
